4- With the text selected, click Path- Object to path. I am using Luucudu from Apply the font and size. I just don't know if it is an inkscape mistake I made or something with cricut that i will need to figure out. 3- In the text and font panel select your font and size. Id really like to make this an svg for her that she can use on a shirt or something. Does anyone have any idea why it would be just a cut out of the outside of the picture and not the inside of the picture where the eyes and nose are cut out? I hope this makes sense. Basically it was a picture that the little boy drew and the outline came out but none of the details that I traced inside like the eyes and nose came out.

Then I went to cricut to practice to see if would come out okay but over there it came out nothing but black, like it was just a shadow. It can also be a time saver with any of the cutting machine programs (eg. I used single scan and it came out beautifully. I downloaded the picture and used trace bitmap to outline it. The first thing I did was scan a picture that my boyfriend drew for me and turn it into a cutable svg for a shirt. I wanted to learn Inkscape so I could make my own graphics to use on Cricut. Cricut is great for basic projects but when it comes to creating your own SVG files (and for free) I highly recommend starting your journey with Inkcape.Hi. The programs have some similar features as you see above, but over all Inkscape is going to give you more in the design aspect in the long run. Just another reason to start learning Inkscape for all your SVG files! Cricut Design Space vs. I have found though that if the design is very intricate in Cricut Design Space that the offset can stall and not work. Offset is a relatively new feature in Cricut Design Space and originally when this feature was not available many crafter relied on Inkscape for this! It's a great feature in both programs. This feature lets users add more depth to their designs than just basic fill colors and can be used for many purposes like adding layers to cake toppers or outlines to vinyl projects. Both Cricut Design Space and Inkscape have the ability to create an offset of your object.
